Review! Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless

I’m going to start off (as always) with a little history Lol! I’ve been using the Original formula which is now called “Dewy + Smooth” for the last 5 years…It’s been my love, my go to, my one and only! I tried to switch to L’Oreal True match after hearing so many people rave about it, but the undertones in that line didn’t work for me, I wore it for a day then came running back to my baby! This line is perfect for those with yellow undertones, which is why I fell so hard. I originally only used this to cover my under circles …the yellow worked perfect to cancel/correct any darkness and the dewy formula helped my eyes look fresh and more awake. One day I decided to use on my cheeks as well and fell even harder. As I’ve mentioned before I don’t put foundation on my T zone, I hate the feel of it on those areas. If I have a blemish or redness that I need to correct I take a little concealer on a fluffy brush and lightly buff it in. With that being said this foundation matched my skin tone perfectly! No pink in it whatsoever, I believe there are other colors in the line that lean towards pink but my shade 210 is definitely yellow based…I read somewhere that the shades that end in “0” are yellow based.

Okay now let’s get to the juicy stuff! So a couple of weeks ago I walked into Walgreens and had to do a double take when I saw the small display of Fit Me foundations with the words “Matte + Poreless” written on the bottle “Say wha?” Lol! I had literally just picked up a bottle of the original at WalMart earlier that day. “I guess I’ll try it when I run out” I said to myself, even though the junkie in me was screaming “Get it noooow!!” Lmbo! I ignored the junkie and kept it moving. After going through the search of a lifetime looking for a primer that didn’t break me out I finally came to the conclusion that the Dewiness that I loved in the original formula was actually contributing to the oiliness around my nose after about 5 hours of wear. So I decided to go ahead and try the Matte version earlier than expected. Here is what the product claims:

"Fit Me!® Matte + Poreless from Maybelline New York goes beyond skin tone matching to fit the unique texture issues of normal to oily skin for the ultimate natural skin fit.

While some foundations can exaggerate pores and oily skin, only our pore-minimizing foundation contains our genius blurring micro-powders that erase pores and absorb oil for a naturally matte and poreless-looking finish.

Dermatologist and allergy tested. Does not clog pores. Oil-free."

My thoughts: To start there are 18 shades I believe in the original formula but in the new matte version only 12 have been released. My shade 210 was among the missing: ( So I picked up 220. When I first applied it I really missed the dewiness I loved from the original formula but even more so I missed my yellow…this shade has more beige than yellow. I’m a creature of habit and once I love something I stick with it forever but I decided to give it a chance.

I started off by applying primer to my already moisturized face. The first thing I noticed upon application is how fast it sets compared to the original, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing you just have to work quicker. I used my Real Techniques expert face brush to apply and was pleased with how flawless it left my skin. I did set with a setting powder, my go to Maybelline Shine free in “Golden” not out of necessity but out of habit Lol! After a couple of hours of wear I was amazed at how the area around my nose looked! No oiliness just a nice semi-matte finish. I also noticed that my blush didn’t fade after a few hours #Bonus!

The following day I switched the brush I was using to one that had a larger head, I went back to my original foundation brush, the Elf Powder Brush. The flat top is perfect to apply the product quickly in a stippling motion leaving a beautiful finish.

On day 3 I decided to skip the under eye concealer and use this foundation on my under eye area, which I haven’t done for the longest. I prefer a lighter under eye, but wanted another option for days where I didn’t want to highlight. I applied it to my under eye area with a small flat top kabuki brush, it covered my darkness immediately! I decided to skip the setting powder since it’s already matte and I hate a dry looking under eye with a passion! I experienced zero creasing throughout the day which was amazing! I’m thinking about picking up a lighter shade just to use as a highlight.

What can I say ladies I’m even more in love with this formula!!! I didn’t think it was possible but I honestly think that Maybelline FitMe is the best drugstore line out there. I think that people sleep on Drugstore brands and fall into the hype of purchasing the product that appears the most time on our news feed or what’s being raved about the most on YouTube. As I’ve mentioned before I’ve tried 2 Mac products in my life and 2 by Laura Mercier and  I only loved one which was a primer. The rest were horrible yet I paid and arm and a leg! I know not all high end brands are horrible but I myself have no desire to spend $40-$50 on a foundation that I will be repurchasing every couple of months. This baby works amazing! And even though I now have the Graftobian Foundation Palette I will be picking up a few bottles in Light, Medium, and Dark to keep in my kit. It Photographs beautifully!

So for any of you ladies who loved the coverage of Revlon Color Stay but hated how dry and mask-like it made your face feel, this is the foundation for you! And for ladies who hate makeup but would love to even out their skin tone, this will work for you as well. A little goes a long way and it lasts all day! Hope my review was helpful, if you have any questions please comment below or comment on my post on IG! I love talking with you ladies! XoXo

Take it or leave it? Purple Lab Pearlesque Show Silicone Free Primer

As promised I’m back to share my thoughts on this Purple little beauty I discovered on eBay! Pearlesque Show Silicone Free Primer. It’s made by Purple Lab which unfortunately seem to no longer have a Website. But if you search eBay and Amazon you can definitely purchase this baby for less than $10. Apparently Purple Lab Products were sold on HSN for a while, this primer was listed at $38.00 back then, #Score! Okay so now on to the good stuff!

The Review!

Product Claims: “Feel like a star with Pearlesque Show! This rich primer is velvety smooth with crushed pearls so your skin will steal the spotlight and have the youthful, dewy glow of a silver screen siren. Full of plumping peptides, kiwi, honey, aloe, grape seed extract, ginkgo biloba, and lavender. The formula is decadently deluxe and ultra hydrating. While it primes your skin it also offers coveted skincare benefits and antioxidants so your face will look firm, even and fresh and your makeup will last forever. Girls, get your bodyguards ready! “----I thought the last part was adorable Lol!

I've been using this primer for almost a week, knowing how picky my skin is I feel completely confident that my thoughts on it will remain the same.

On day 1  I washed my face as usual, then I toned and  moisturized with Extra Virgin Olive Oil. As soon as I squeezed the tube, I automatically thought of the Laura Mercier Foundation primer…No silicony feel whatsoever--think white lotion Yay! A pea size amount was enough to cover my forehead, cheeks and chin. I left my nose alone since it’s *super* picky with products. This primer has a nice simple scent, reminds me of Oil of Olay lotion. It felt really nice on my skin absorbed it quickly. I spent the day out in the Florida heat, my skin gave me absolutely no isues….no irritation, no itching, and no break outs. When I returned home my T-Zone was in decent shape. It wasn’t matte, which the product doesn’t claim to provide, but it wasn’t an Oil Slick either. What I did notice was that my face felt a little too moisturized if that makes any sense Lol! I knew that the following day I would skip the Olive Oil, this Primer has so many amazing ingredients that using it on its own would be enough to moisturize my Combo skin. Day 2! I skipped the EVOO and I applied after toning. Same pea size amount, this time I used it on my nose too. My skin loves it!! You know the break out I mentioned in my previous post from The Hard Candy Sheer Envy Primer? It was pretty much gone on day 2! There’s something about this primer that soothes the skin and calms any irritation down. My makeup stays put all day, no creasing. It creates a great base to apply my foundation and best of all my face feels fresh all day! I have nothing negative to say about it, I absolutely love it! I’m ordering a couple of more tubes for myself and to keep in my Kit. The only way I use a product on a client is if my picky skin can handle it and this has definitely passed the test! #AngiesPickySkinApproved! 100% Take it! And if your skin is super sensitive to silicone take 2 or 3 tubes while you're at it Lol!

Oily T Zone and Sensitive Skin! My quest to find the perfect primer!

Hello my dolls! My first official post of 2015!! 🙌 I attempted to sit down last night but unfortunately blogging turned into sleeping Lol! Let me first start off by giving you a little history on my 32 Year old Skin. Up until my 29th year I had Normal to Dry skin. Once I turned 29 my skin freaked out! I mean it was like going through puberty once again. My skin became very sensitive to products I had been using for years. My T-zone became an oily mess and I developed this rash on my forehead that took forever to clear up! I basically had to eliminate everything I was using and start from scratch.

After a lot of trial an error I came to the conclusion that A. My skin *hated* the ingredient Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, which is in SO many facial cleansing products! This is what was causing the rash and the reason why it took so long to go away. And B. I now had Oily to Dry Skin. The solution---The simpler the better. No fancy creams or soaps, no special sponges or brushes. My skin care routine consists of only 3 products: Ambi Clear Complexion Bar to cleanse, Witch Hazel to tone and last but not least the best moisturizer ever Extra Virgin Olive Oil. These 3 babies helped my now very sensitive skin get back to normal.

Okay so how did I deal with my Oily T-Zone? Some more trial and error. I discovered Milk of Magnesia worked great to keep my forehead matte all day, but I hated how tight the rest of my T-Zone felt. I started purchasing different drugstore primers….I went through Rimmel, all of the Hard Candy Primers, Maybelline Baby Skin, and even tried the Monistat Chafing Gel Lol! All of those have one thing in common, they are all silicone based primers. They immediately give me a matte, smooth finish but by midday my T-Zone is super oily. And the worst part is they eventually cause my skin to break out. The worst one of the bunch was Baby skin…I broke out within the hour! The Hard Candy ones are a little tricky. My skin takes a couple of days to react and I end up forgetting since I don’t use them on a daily...I have horrible short term memory Lol!

Oh and before I forget the Milk of Magnesia recently started giving me a rash on my forehead and was given the boot! It was a good 3 years! ---The only primer that my skin loved was the Laura Mercier Foundation primer which I received as a sample after ordering a concealer. It felt like a lotion, completely different from what I was using, but it did it’s job wonderfully! After I ran out I completely forgot what it was that I had been loving and continued to purchase other primers, which is how I ended up with 3 of the Hard Candy Primers Lol! 🙈

So after a recent little break out from the Original Hard Candy Primer (White Tube) I started doing a little hunting on Google for a Silicone free primer. I came up with a short list of Primers with great reviews and heavy price tags #NoBueno but I was willing to order a tube if it meant my skin would be happy. Before settling on one I decided to search eBay and typed in the same words I typed in Google: Silicone Free Primer, and up popped up this purple Beauty with it’s lovely little price tag of $9.58 with tax!

My thoughts??? You’ll have to wait for my next post 😂 Lol! I didn’t expect my skin history to take this long but I felt it was necessary to give you an idea of why this primer may or may not be what you’re looking for…stay tuned loves! X💋X💋

Oh My Little Blog how I've neglected you!

Eeeek! It's been more than a year since my last Blog post! I really did intend to post a lot more but hey! Life happens ; ) In one of my last post I believe I was on a health kick, trying to stop falling off the Low Carb wagon...#Fail I fell off numerous times after and eventually hopped on the Paleo wagon. I realized dairy was having a negative affect on my body, add that to my sugar issues and the Paleo Diet was the perfect solution! I would love to say, I'm eating great, and feeling great BUT sadly that's not the case Lol! I've been eating so bad...Ever since I delivered my son (12 weeks ago) I've been off Paleo, I haven't put on any weight I actually weigh 4-5 lbs. less than my pre pregnancy weight. I'm nursing so I'm burning more calories than normal which explains the no weight gain. I really do need to get back on track. Back to my fruits, veggies, meats and off the sugar and grains. I'll get back on track soon, life has been super busy and my lack of planning has resulted in me eating unhealthy. Besides falling off Paleo, I've also rediscovered my passion for makeup! That is my current obsession, and more than likely what my next couple of posts will be about. I'm happy to be back blogging. Til' next post! ; )  Oh and before I forget Random Girly Obsessions is on Instagram and  Facebook Be sure to Follow/Like! : )

Maybelline Falsies Flared Review

In early April I went on a quest to find a great waterproof mascara. After reading many reviews online, I decided on Maybelline Falsies Flared water proof mascara.

I started off by curling my lashes, then I applied the MFF....I was left with thicker, longer lashes! Woo hoo!  I'm very happy with the results, the only downside was that it was a pain in the butt to remove at night, it is *waterproof* Lol! Just make sure you have a great makeup remover to use along with it. I've recently purchased the non waterproof version instead and will use the other tube for beach or pool days only. At night I just take a wipee dipped in olive oil and wipe the mascara off in a downward motion, it comes off  very easily : ) I've *finally* found my staple mascara! <3

Low carb and lovin it?....

Back in 2005 I decided to start my low-carb journey. I put on a couple of pounds after having 2 of my kids and lets just say I was feeling less than cute. I jumped online and found out everything I needed know about this diet. What I could eat, what I should avoid. I had a packet that listed every food I could think of and it's carb count. I was determined! So determined I lost 20 lbs. in a very short time : ) I have to admit I think I got a little too thin at one point but I gained an extra 5lbs. and was happy with my size.----Flash forward to 2012 I fluctuate from my goal weight to 5lb. over my goal weight, which is not too bad but it seems like more of a challenge this time around to eat right and remain near my goal. There are days when I eat whatever I want without worrying about calories, carbs, portion...sometimes those days turn into weeks 0_o I find myself feeling sluggish, more tired than usual, bloated---then I snap out of my "indulgence overload" and get back on track. I feel SO much better after I do. My energy picks up, I lose whatever water weight I've been holding, I'm less irritable. Then I remember why I chose to stick with this low carb life style for all these years, I feel great! I've decided to give myself a "fun day" every 3 weeks. On this day I can eat whatever sweets I want. NO carb counting what-so-ever! I'm back on track and am going to try my best to stay on track. Tomorrow I'll be attending a baby shower and really wish that it fell on my "fun day" Lol! I've been eating good this whole week and refuse to undo all my hard work. You have to do what works for you. It's not about getting "skinny" I'm happy with my size BUT I'm also aware of the negative affect certain foods have on my body. So I'll continue to avoid them. Low carb and lovin it? Actually..Yeah " )

My search for the perfect "replacement" moisturizer...because the one I love is too darn expensive!

I have 2 little Princesses (Princess Y and Princess A) with heads full of gorgeous curls, there is also a little Prince (Prince Z) in the house but lately he's been wearing his hair short : ) I've never relaxed their hair and NEVER plan to do so. I'm in the process of getting to know their hair, what works for one of my curlies may not work for the other. Here is my dilemma: I *finally* found the perfect product to moisturize their
hair *Bee Mine Luscious Balanced Moisturizer*!

I love the smell, the texture, the shine, but most of all I love how moisturized and manageable it leaves their hair. "Okay so what's the problem lady?" The problem is it's way too expensive!! (after shipping costs) I ordered a 8 oz. size and fell in love! I used it everyday on both girls. I wasn't outrageous with the amount I used, I only applied extra to the areas that needed a little bit more moisture. The 16 oz. jar only lasted us 2 weeks : ( The last day that we used it I decided to do twists in Princess A's pony tail before we headed out to Sally's to find the "replacement". I gathered her hair in a pony tail, spritzed it with a little bit of water applied BMLBM and twisted sections until she had a pony full of oh so shiny twists...Ughhh! "Why do I only have a smidget of my beloved left in the jar!" I thought to
myself , actually I probably yelled something along those lines out loud 0_O We got home maybe 3 hours later, I decided to loosen her pony tail a bit, she has finer hair and her sides can't handle too much tension. At this point I decided to unravel her twists too. Can I say *Gor-G-Ous!!* I was so surprised to see her twists so defined after only a few hours, and the shine was crazy!

Okay so on to the "replacement" I pu
rchased a 16 oz. jar of the As I am Double Butter Cream ($24.00 at Sally's).

Still expensive but no shipping costs so I save about $20 compared to purchasing the 16 oz. jar of BMLBM. I opened the jar and liked the smell and thick creamy texture. I put a small amount on the front of Princess A's hair hmmm nice shine, good moisture, I think we have a winner! I decided to add a small amount to Princess Y's hair. She was wearing a banded pony tail that day, so I only added it to the bottom. "Houston we have a problem"--- It made her hair curl AND? You ask...well the problem with that is that I've been stretching their hair lately by tension blow drying, it makes styling their hair a lot easier for me. When I apply the BMLBM to their stretched hair it stays that way, this was not the case with the As I am product. Are we back to square one? Not exactly I loved the shine and moisture it gave, it was very light, it didn't leave any sticky residue on my hands (hate that) I could return it, was very close to doing so but decided to give it a chance. Last night I decided to use it to do a head full of twists on Princess Y's hair. Her hair was pretty well moisturized from the day before. I applied setting foam, and a dollop up of the As I am product to sections of her hair and continued until all her hair was in twists. Great shine! I could tell this was going to result in an amazing twist out. I dried her hair a little with the dryer since she was going to bed. In the morning her hair was still a little moist so I finished drying her hair with the dryer. I put Olive oil on my hands and started to unravel. LOVE! the results! And let me just say Princess Y has a whole lot of hair! I tell her she has 4 heads of hair on 1 head Lol! and I did not have to use that much product to get great results, I'm sure the setting foam helped too, but the shine and moisture was all from the As I am. Her hair still looked great after she returned back home from school, their was a little frizz in the front but that was from her playing the "look how my hair can bounce" game with her hair I may have found a great product for twists BUT I also remember getting the same results when I tried the Shea Moisture Moisturizing Smoothie and that was only $10 at Walgre
ens : /

So it looks like we're back to the drawing board. I could just suck it up, go to Bee Mine's Website, purchase their 16 oz. jar for $34.95 or whatever crazy prize it was, pay the $10.00 shipping fee, oh wait I get 10% off with a promo code from one of my favorite hair blogs woo hoo! -_- Hubby thinks I'm being a cheapo, I think I'm being realistic. A product that costs 40 something dollars after shipping can't possibly be a staple product when you have 2 heads to style everyday. And the search continues.....
