I’m going to start off (as always) with a little history
Lol! I’ve been using the Original formula which is now called “Dewy + Smooth”
for the last 5 years…It’s been my love, my go to, my one and only! I tried to
switch to L’Oreal True match after hearing so many people rave about it, but
the undertones in that line didn’t work for me, I wore it for a day then came
running back to my baby! This line is perfect for those with yellow undertones,
which is why I fell so hard. I originally only used this to cover my under circles
…the yellow worked perfect to cancel/correct any darkness and the dewy formula
helped my eyes look fresh and more awake. One day I decided to use on my cheeks
as well and fell even harder. As I’ve mentioned before I don’t put foundation
on my T zone, I hate the feel of it on those areas. If I have a blemish or redness
that I need to correct I take a little concealer on a fluffy brush and lightly buff
it in. With that being said this foundation matched my skin tone perfectly! No
pink in it whatsoever, I believe there are other colors in the line that lean
towards pink but my shade 210 is definitely yellow based…I read somewhere that
the shades that end in “0” are yellow based.
Okay now let’s get to the juicy stuff! So a couple of weeks
ago I walked into Walgreens and had to do a double take when I saw the small display
of Fit Me foundations with the words “Matte + Poreless” written on the bottle “Say
wha?” Lol! I had literally just picked up a bottle of the original at WalMart
earlier that day. “I guess I’ll try it when I run out” I said to myself, even though
the junkie in me was screaming “Get it noooow!!” Lmbo! I ignored the junkie and
kept it moving. After going through the search of a lifetime looking for a
primer that didn’t break me out I finally came to the conclusion that the Dewiness
that I loved in the original formula was actually contributing to the oiliness around
my nose after about 5 hours of wear. So I decided to go ahead and try the Matte
version earlier than expected. Here is what the product claims:
"Fit Me!® Matte + Poreless from Maybelline New York goes beyond skin tone matching to fit the unique texture issues of normal to oily skin for the ultimate natural skin fit.
While some foundations can exaggerate pores and oily skin, only our pore-minimizing foundation contains our genius blurring micro-powders that erase pores and absorb oil for a naturally matte and poreless-looking finish.
Dermatologist and allergy tested. Does not clog pores. Oil-free."

My thoughts: To start there are 18 shades I believe in the
original formula but in the new matte version only 12 have been released. My shade
210 was among the missing: ( So I picked up 220. When I first applied it I
really missed the dewiness I loved from the original formula but even more so I
missed my yellow…this shade has more beige than yellow. I’m a creature of habit
and once I love something I stick with it forever but I decided to give it a
chance.
I started off by applying primer to my already moisturized
face. The first thing I noticed upon application is how fast it sets compared
to the original, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing you just have to work
quicker. I used my Real Techniques expert face brush to apply and was pleased
with how flawless it left my skin. I did set with a setting powder, my go to Maybelline
Shine free in “Golden” not out of necessity but out of habit Lol! After a
couple of hours of wear I was amazed at how the area around my nose looked! No
oiliness just a nice semi-matte finish. I also noticed that my blush didn’t fade
after a few hours #Bonus!
The following day I switched the brush I was using to
one that had a larger head, I went back to my original foundation brush, the
Elf Powder Brush. The flat top is perfect to apply the product quickly in a
stippling motion leaving a beautiful finish.
On day 3 I decided to skip the under eye concealer and use
this foundation on my under eye area, which I haven’t done for the longest. I
prefer a lighter under eye, but wanted another option for days where I didn’t want
to highlight. I applied it to my under eye area with a small flat top kabuki
brush, it covered my darkness immediately! I decided to skip the setting powder
since it’s already matte and I hate a dry looking under eye with a passion! I
experienced zero creasing throughout the day which was amazing! I’m thinking
about picking up a lighter shade just to use as a highlight.
What can I say
ladies I’m even more in love with this formula!!! I didn’t think it was
possible but I honestly think that Maybelline FitMe is the best drugstore line
out there. I think that people sleep on Drugstore brands and fall into the hype
of purchasing the product that appears the most time on our news feed or what’s
being raved about the most on YouTube. As I’ve mentioned before I’ve tried 2 Mac
products in my life and 2 by Laura Mercier and I only loved one which was a primer. The rest
were horrible yet I paid and arm and a leg! I know not all high end brands are
horrible but I myself have no desire to spend $40-$50 on a foundation that I
will be repurchasing every couple of months. This baby works amazing! And even
though I now have the Graftobian Foundation Palette I will be picking up a few
bottles in Light, Medium, and Dark to keep in my kit. It Photographs beautifully!
So for any of you ladies who loved the coverage of Revlon Color Stay but hated
how dry and mask-like it made your face feel, this is the foundation for you! And
for ladies who hate makeup but would love to even out their skin tone, this
will work for you as well. A little goes a long way and it lasts all day! Hope
my review was helpful, if you have any questions please comment below or
comment on my post on IG! I love talking with you ladies! XoXo
