My search for the perfect "replacement" moisturizer...because the one I love is too darn expensive!

I have 2 little Princesses (Princess Y and Princess A) with heads full of gorgeous curls, there is also a little Prince (Prince Z) in the house but lately he's been wearing his hair short : ) I've never relaxed their hair and NEVER plan to do so. I'm in the process of getting to know their hair, what works for one of my curlies may not work for the other. Here is my dilemma: I *finally* found the perfect product to moisturize their
hair *Bee Mine Luscious Balanced Moisturizer*!

I love the smell, the texture, the shine, but most of all I love how moisturized and manageable it leaves their hair. "Okay so what's the problem lady?" The problem is it's way too expensive!! (after shipping costs) I ordered a 8 oz. size and fell in love! I used it everyday on both girls. I wasn't outrageous with the amount I used, I only applied extra to the areas that needed a little bit more moisture. The 16 oz. jar only lasted us 2 weeks : ( The last day that we used it I decided to do twists in Princess A's pony tail before we headed out to Sally's to find the "replacement". I gathered her hair in a pony tail, spritzed it with a little bit of water applied BMLBM and twisted sections until she had a pony full of oh so shiny twists...Ughhh! "Why do I only have a smidget of my beloved left in the jar!" I thought to
myself , actually I probably yelled something along those lines out loud 0_O We got home maybe 3 hours later, I decided to loosen her pony tail a bit, she has finer hair and her sides can't handle too much tension. At this point I decided to unravel her twists too. Can I say *Gor-G-Ous!!* I was so surprised to see her twists so defined after only a few hours, and the shine was crazy!

Okay so on to the "replacement" I pu
rchased a 16 oz. jar of the As I am Double Butter Cream ($24.00 at Sally's).

Still expensive but no shipping costs so I save about $20 compared to purchasing the 16 oz. jar of BMLBM. I opened the jar and liked the smell and thick creamy texture. I put a small amount on the front of Princess A's hair hmmm nice shine, good moisture, I think we have a winner! I decided to add a small amount to Princess Y's hair. She was wearing a banded pony tail that day, so I only added it to the bottom. "Houston we have a problem"--- It made her hair curl AND? You ask...well the problem with that is that I've been stretching their hair lately by tension blow drying, it makes styling their hair a lot easier for me. When I apply the BMLBM to their stretched hair it stays that way, this was not the case with the As I am product. Are we back to square one? Not exactly I loved the shine and moisture it gave, it was very light, it didn't leave any sticky residue on my hands (hate that) I could return it, was very close to doing so but decided to give it a chance. Last night I decided to use it to do a head full of twists on Princess Y's hair. Her hair was pretty well moisturized from the day before. I applied setting foam, and a dollop up of the As I am product to sections of her hair and continued until all her hair was in twists. Great shine! I could tell this was going to result in an amazing twist out. I dried her hair a little with the dryer since she was going to bed. In the morning her hair was still a little moist so I finished drying her hair with the dryer. I put Olive oil on my hands and started to unravel. LOVE! the results! And let me just say Princess Y has a whole lot of hair! I tell her she has 4 heads of hair on 1 head Lol! and I did not have to use that much product to get great results, I'm sure the setting foam helped too, but the shine and moisture was all from the As I am. Her hair still looked great after she returned back home from school, their was a little frizz in the front but that was from her playing the "look how my hair can bounce" game with her hair I may have found a great product for twists BUT I also remember getting the same results when I tried the Shea Moisture Moisturizing Smoothie and that was only $10 at Walgre
ens : /

So it looks like we're back to the drawing board. I could just suck it up, go to Bee Mine's Website, purchase their 16 oz. jar for $34.95 or whatever crazy prize it was, pay the $10.00 shipping fee, oh wait I get 10% off with a promo code from one of my favorite hair blogs woo hoo! -_- Hubby thinks I'm being a cheapo, I think I'm being realistic. A product that costs 40 something dollars after shipping can't possibly be a staple product when you have 2 heads to style everyday. And the search continues.....
